  • Last summer, the Rhodopes acquired a pylon at Rozhen, where the Bulgarian national flag still flies today. The project was carried out by the “Heritage in the Future” Foundation under the patronage of President Rumen Radev. Rumen Georgiev Radev is a Bulgarian military man, major general from the reserve. A former commander of and with the generous financial endowments provided by the caretaker government. It is a detail that state-owned companies were forced to donate in order to realize the propaganda goals of the president.

This is written in an official position by the municipal councilors of the BSPBulgarian Socialist Party (abbreviated BSP) – Smolyan, which we publish without editorial intervention:

“The idea was met with a wide public debate and instead of uniting the nation, it succeeded in creating another reason for disunity and scandals. The facility was inaugurated on the first day of the “Rozhen 2023” assembly, and Radev used the occasion for another edifying speech on patriotism and patriotism. So far so good – we have a flagpole and a flag. However, after the reporters and cameras filming it left, the important questions came. Who will maintain the expensive facility and with what money? Especially during the stormy winter months.

Winter has come: No one knows what will happen to Rojen’s giant tribagrenik

Who will monitor safety? According to the information brought out in the summer, the pylon is resistant to winds of up to 180 km/h, and last year winds in almost the whole country raged at 150 km/h and caused a lot of damage, and it was even worse in the mountains. The flag has already stalled. From the latest media publications on the subject of the “Rozhen” pylon, it is clear that Simeon Karakolev, who is close to Radev, intended to convene a council to decide the fate of the facility during the cold months. First, we erect a pylon, then we wonder what we are going to do with it. The municipal councilor from BSPBulgarian Socialist Party (abbreviated BSP) Ivan Frenkev officially asked these and many other questions to the mayor of Smolyan Municipality. Meanwhile, the flag raised on the “Rozhen” pylon has already torn at the ends. Many residents of Rhodope warned that this would happen after the first deterioration of the weather. By the end of winter, the outages will increase, the atmospheric conditions here are severe – wind, snow, rain and sun are unforgiving.

The Rozhen pylon was widely advertised as a source of pride and a symbol of unification. It is absolutely unacceptable to fly a torn Bulgarian flag on the highest pole in the EU. There is a decent solution to the maintenance problem – after being the patron and initiator of the project, former president Rumen RadevRumen Georgiev Radev is a Bulgarian military man, major general from the reserve. Former commander of the presidential administration to be engaged in replacing the flag at least twice a year, or when necessary. Funds in the budget of the Presidency will be found. If he has to reduce the huge number of advisers and secretaries. This is the worthy decision. If the president hides or distances himself, it means that once again he has used the patriotism of Bulgarians for his own purposes. The president owes answers. The torn flag is a symbol of his official authority”.
