Controversy Surrounding Bollywood Film “Bawaal” and its Depiction of the Holocaust

The Bollywood film “Bawaal” is in very bad weather after several people believe it glorifies Adolf Hitler and downplays the Holocaust, where millions of Jews lost their lives, writes The Guardian.

Directed by Indian filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari, the film is about a couple who travel to Europe together and visit historical sites.

In another scene, the actors will be in a gas chamber where words like “we’re all a bit like Hitler, aren’t we?”, are said.

As mentioned, there has been a hail of reactions.

The director has stated in the wake of the criticism that he never intended to be insensitive and that he used the story of the Second World War in the film to give something new to the Indian audience, writes the newspaper.

Tiwari is also said to be disappointed with how some have misunderstood the film. He also says that the characters in the film are influenced by what they experience in Auschwitz.
