與 “No, repeat the controversy like six years ago”
12 members of ‘Like Society’ have asked to be referred to the Ethics Committee
After 12 lawmakers from the opposition extremists’ frontline group, ‘Like Hoe’, were demolished for displaying satirical paintings of President Yoon Seok-yeol and his wife, Kim Gun-hee, in the Members’ Hall of the National Assembly, a storm has broken out in the political world. Even within the Democratic Party there were criticisms that it “does not correspond to the original mission of the National Assembly” and the people’s power demanded that the Democratic Party refer the member to the party’s Ethics Tribunal.
On the morning of the 10th, Democratic Party lawmaker Cho Eung-cheon told SBS radio: “Basically, the National Assembly is a place where conflicts in the streets and squares are introduced and melted like a melting pot through dialogue and the compromise. “act”, he criticized. Rep. Cho, who is a member of the State Affairs Special Committee on the Itaewon Halloween Disaster Investigation, said, “I felt that this exhibit was designed to criticize and satirize the government’s lack of accountability for the Itaewon disaster. Wouldn’t they have been,” he asked, asking, “Does the victim’s family really want an exhibit like this?”
In the political world, there has also been criticism that this controversy was a repeat of the case where former Democratic Party lawmaker Pyo Chang-won held a satirical exhibition criticizing the current situation at the Members’ Hall of the National Assembly in 2017 and presented a work depicting then-President Park Geun-hye in a nude state, which caused controversy. At that time, former Congressman Pyo received a 6-month disciplinary action from the Democratic Party ethics judge.
Ho-young Joo, representative of the people’s power, said at the internal countermeasures meeting that day, “It’s a work of art, and it’s about freedom of expression, but it’s a low-quality political manifesto, and it’s full of insults.” and slander.” Lui said, “In 2017, a former Pyo lawmaker was given a 6-month suspension by the party ethics judge over a similar incident,” and “I call for 12 lawmakers to be tried.”
Like-Hoe members held a press conference against the demolition the day before and continued their rebuttal today. Democratic Party member Yang Won-young wrote on Facebook, “If you express political prosecution so much, it is at least a decent satire. What more do you want?” Representative Kim Nam-guk of the same party also told MBC radio, “The whole nation has come to know that it will pass without knowing it due to excessive loyalty (to President Yoon).” Rep. Kim belonged to “Like Hoe”, but was not listed in the list of organizers of this exhibition.
