A strange message posted on the doors of the Yuri Gagarin Kindergarten in Godech greets the parents.
The note written by the headmistress states that only extremely needy children will be able to attend the daycare during the summer season as only one group is formed. “All those who have leave, grandparents, work online, stay at home. A check will be made,” the message reads.
“On May 12th, we held a meeting with the parents of the children who go to school. 19 parents were present, to whom I explained in detail everything that will happen in the kindergarten during the summer period. The kindergarten works all year round – I firmly stand behind the children.” director Zorka Alexandrova told Nova TV.
The Municipality of Godech found out about the note from social networks. They also received an official signal from the Regional Department of Education.
“I consider the posting of the note to be an arbitrary action that was not coordinated with the municipality. It was ordered to be corrected, as well as the schedule for the use of leave by the staff,” indicated Nadia Sotirova, deputy mayor.
The municipal councilor Bogomil Bogomilov wrote on Facebook that there are no clear criteria for which child is in need, the director Zorka Aleksandrova herself decides which child to take, and this is an abuse of office.
“We are aware that the staff needs the leave, but it is right that the leaves should be organized by alternating those who are absent, so that the work of the children’s institution is not blocked,” he commented.
