Controversy over Statue of Goddess Kencana in Bogor Resort Sparks Local Wisdom Debate

Cisarua Sub-District Chief Heri Risnandar responded that there was a polemic the statue of the Goddess Kencana at Pakis Hills Puncak resort, Bogor, West Java (Jabar), which sparked polemics. Heri asked tourism managers to consider local wisdom in tourism development.

“Regarding the development of issues, we accept that we have to correct things, which means that we need communication between parties. owner with the people who refused today,” Heri told reporters, Wednesday (24/4/2024).

Heri hopes that the management and the community will establish good communication. Heri hopes that the polemic will only arise because of a misunderstanding.

“Dialogue is needed, tabayun is needed first, in terms of improving things. There may be a misunderstanding, we need to get it straight. out,” explained Heri.

Heri also hopes that the management will consider local wisdom so that tourist spots do not cause politics.

“On the other hand, the community needs development that will attract new tourists as well. But when things happen there may be some conflict with local wisdom,” said Heri.

Heri believes that the polemic that arose was unexpected. He also hopes that there will be common ground on this problem.

“This means that maybe it was something unexpected, I also think that this can still be expressed. Common ground can be found or it can be stretched,” he said.

As previously reported, tourism management in Puncak, Bogor, West Java, said they would not dismantle it the statue of the Goddess Kencana. They are still waiting for the results of the meeting with ulama and MUI next week.

“Although it was like that, it was not dismantled. Yes, later there will be another meeting with ulama, MUI and other figures,” Pakis Hills spokesperson Jatnika said today.
