This is one of the biggest controversies of the new Super Mario movie. We talked about the decision to cast star actors for the voices of the characters.
It is the English version that made this decision, with prominent actors such as Chris Pratt Like Mario’s voice. However, in other languages such as Spanish or French, it was decided to use dubbing actors and not super stars.
Today it has been confirmed that Valerie Siclay, the dubbing director of the French version of the film, was the one who had to persuade Nintendo and Universal to use professional voice actors for the French version. It is unknown if the same has happened in other languages, but surely it is.
Super Mario’s dubbing director, Valérie Siclay, persuaded Nintendo and Universal not to hire star-talent and only hire dubbing professionals.
