A group of councilors from Garupá, who are opponents of the administration of Mayor Luis “Lucho” Ripoll, held a special session today where they approved increasing the diet with a Non-remunerative of 400 thousand pesos and creating new positions in the deliberative.
The call was made yesterday, after the ordinary session, when a request for an extraordinary session was submitted for today. This morning, councilors Miguel Rauber (president of the body), Joselo “Chelo” Vieira, Raquel De Moraiz and Marina Rodríguez, approved an increase in the diet with a Non-remunerative of 400 thousand pesos for the councilors and 150 thousand for the rest of the legislative body.
Furthermore, in the same session and with the vote of the 4 councilors, the creation of 31 political positions in the deliberative body was approved. All the councilors are from Frente Renovador, but they are opposed to the management headed by Mayor Luis “Lucho” Ripoll.
Councilors Joselo Peralta (Presente y Futuro Renovador), Delia Dujaut (Present y Futuro Renovador), who respond to the communal chief, and Rodolfo Kucszak (Cambiemos) did not appear at the special session and do not support the measure approved this morning.
“They made a call yesterday afternoon, after the ordinary session. In the usual session this issue was not discussed, the president of the body did so with the support of those councilors. We believe that it is not the time to do this because there are no budget items to give these increases and even less to create charges, when the neighbors are making a lot of effort to pay their rates,” said councilor Joselo Peralta.
“Only the councilors are given an increase and hierarchical positions are created that today the council does not need. With these increases, a councilor will earn almost 900 thousand pesos, while a municipal employee will earn 300 thousand pesos. The mayor has a policy of giving equal increases to everyone regardless of categories and he has been giving them almost every month. This increase approved by these councilors will triple what a municipal employee earns. In addition, the budget is already receiving national cuts and with this they seek to create a problem with the general budget. From our side, the mayor has our support to veto this ordinance,” Peralta added.
The Garupá Deliberative Council has 7 councilors and 26 employees, both permanent and contracted. With the new ordinance approved today, the positions in the deliberative would be expanded to more than 50.
The Territory consulted Mayor Luis “Lucho” Ripoll who preferred not to make statements until the ordinance was approved today, but indicated that “it will be vetoed because it goes against what we are looking for in the municipality. We have been giving increases to municipal employees according to what comes from the co-participation, since we depend on that. So we cannot approve an ordinance that is going to move millions of pesos for a few and that is going to create a problem for us with the municipal employee and with the neighbor.”
