Former Prime Minister (PM) Malaysia Mahathir Mohamad suddenly threw a loud call to the PM Anwar Ibrahim. He called on Anwar to prove he had abused his authority during his time in office years ago.
Mahathir’s appeal came after Anwar mentioned a figure he said had controlled state resources for himself during decades in power. Thus as reported The StarMonday (27/3/2023).
“Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim must show proof that I used my position as Prime Minister to benefit myself and my family,” said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in his statement.
“Accusations are easy to make when they are not proven by facts and evidence,” he said.
Mahathir’s statement was released on Monday (27/3) local time, after Anwar said he once knew someone who fully controlled Malaysian resources for himself and his family during a reign that lasted 22 years and 22 months.
Furthermore, Mahathir stated that he released a statement because he felt that the Malays in his country had lost everything since he resigned as Prime Minister of Malaysia.
“Malays have become poor since I stepped down for the first time. I tried to improve their situation during my second term as Prime Minister, but the Pakatan Harapan government collapsed, I lost my post, and I am speaking out now because of this,” he said.
