Marlene Schiappa appeared in a white dress on the cover of the magazine in which she gave a 12-page interview
Minister Marlene Schiappa was criticized in France after appearing on the cover of Playboy magazine.
Chiaba appeared on the cover of the magazine, in which she conducted a 12-page interview in which she touched on women’s rights and sensitive issues.
Chiaba is currently the Minister of Social Economy and French Associations, and has been a member of the French government since 2017.
She appeared on the cover of Playboy wearing a white dress.
This has drawn criticism from French politicians, including Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne.
BFMTV, citing a source close to the prime minister, reported that the magazine pulled Schiappa’s picture from the cover, telling her “it was not appropriate, especially during this period”.
France is currently witnessing a political and social crisis sparked by French President Emmanuel Macron’s move to move forward with reforming the pension system, despite widespread popular opposition.
In turn, Jean-Luc Melenchon, who came third in the 2022 presidential election, criticized Chiappa’s appearance on the cover of “Playboy”.
For her part, Schiappa responded to her critics in a tweet on Saturday, saying: “Defending the right of women to control their bodies, everywhere and all the time. In France, women are free. With all due respect to critics and hypocrites.”
French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin also defended Chiappa during a press interview on Sunday, describing her as “a woman of character.” He continued, “Marlene Chiappa is a brave politician with her own personality and style that does not suit me, but I respect him.”
