Starfield has been accompanied by a number of controversies since its release. The title was a success on paper, but the response from players continued to decline with each passing day. And it is no different now.
- Starfield’s rating on Steam recently dropped to rather negative
- Still, 13 million players tried the game
Starfield is the first new brand from Bethesda Game Studios in over twenty years. The game was meant to take everything that made Bethesda’s other titles famous and expand it to the extreme. However, the developers failed to hit the mark, which of course led to dissatisfied reactions from fans. In the beginning, Starfield really enjoyed a lot of interest from the community. However, players soon felt a void and eventually dropped the game. Even so, Starfield maintained a relatively positive rating on Steam. Recently, however, the rating has dropped from mixed to rather negative.
Starfield will receive another portion of content next year in the form of the Shattered Space story expansion.
With Skyrim having more players than Starfield, it’s clear that the game isn’t as appealing as Bethesda might have hoped. However, this does not mean that this will always be the case. Bethesda hasn’t given up on Starfield just yet, as around 250 employees are still working on the game and will be releasing regular updates in 2024. The developers promised that from February, new updates will be released approximately every six weeks, which will enrich the game with additional elements and content. In addition, 13 million players have tried the game since its launch.
