At the National Assembly confirmation hearing for Minister of Gender Equality and Family Kim Haeng and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Yu In-chon held on the 5th, a fierce battle broke out between the ruling and opposition parties.

First, one of the key suspicions raised against candidate Kim Haeng was whether or not there was so-called ‘stock parking’.

There is a suspicion that Candidate Kim and his wife avoided a blind trust by selling shares of the ‘Wikitree’ company to her sister-in-law and her husband’s friend and then buying them back while they were Blue House spokespersons.

Candidate Kim refuted that there was no illegality and that it was not a title trust.

In response to the National Assembly Gender Equality and Family Committee’s request to submit a copy of the stock purchase contract with her sister-in-law and data on stock changes before and after the blind trust, Candidate Kim responded, citing “personal privacy” and “protection of corporate business activities” respectively. There was controversy as it was rejected.

In addition, claims were made that Candidate Kim earned coins using Wikitree, but Candidate Kim strongly refuted the claim, saying, “I have never made money from it.”

The so-called ‘blacklist’ battle against Candidate Yoo took place fiercely.

It was pointed out that Candidate Yoo’s name is mentioned 104 times in the ‘White Paper on the Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye administrations’ blacklist incident by the Culture and Arts Blacklist Fact Investigation and System Improvement Committee’.

In response, Candidate Yoo said, “The white paper was written unilaterally,” and refuted that although ministers, chief executives and administrators of the Blue House, and employees of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and affiliated organizations were arrested and disciplined in connection with the blacklist incident during the Park Geun-hye administration, he was not actually arrested.

Regarding the claim that he swore at photographers in 2008, he said, “I couldn’t control my emotions at the time, so I expressed my emotions excessively,” but also denied the allegations of swearing, saying, “The addition of XX as a subtitle (by the broadcasting company) was false and fabricated.” .
