2. The Story of the Air Force Tu-16 Bomber Aircraft Escaping the Pursuit of British Javelin Jets

In the early 1960s, the Air Force, which is now known as the Indonesian Air Force, was recorded as the strongest in the southern hemisphere.

The strength of the Air Force at that time could not be separated because the ownership of the main weaponry system (alutsista) was up to date in its time.

One of them is the Tupolev Tu-16 strategic bomber made in the Soviet Union. In 1964, or to be precise in the Dwikora era, the Tu-16 Air Force and its crew showed their skill when being chased by two British Javelin jets.

At that time, the Tu-16 was flown by Marshal Muda (Purn) Syah Alam Damanik with co-pilot Sartomo, navigators Gani and Ketut on the Dwikora campaign mission.

Quoted from Angkasa Magazine, the collection edition entitled “Aircraft Combatants of the Indonesian Air Force, From the Legend of the Churen to the Empowerment of the Flanker” mentioned that while carrying out Dwikora’s mission, Damanik, who often flew back and forth over the Malacca Strait, directed the plane to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

3. In the footsteps of Chuck Putranto, former Spri Ferdy Sambo, who was not fired by the National Police even though he was proven to be involved in the Brigadier J Case

Former Spri Ferdy Sambo, Kompol Chuck Putranto, escaped the police dismissal sanction.

The results of the appeal hearing at the National Police Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP) stated that Chuck failed to receive a dishonorable discharge (PTDH) for the obstruction of justice case or obstruction of the premeditated murder investigation of Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J.

“The appeal decision in question was not PTDH,” said the Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karo Penmas) Public Relations of the National Police Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan when confirmed, Thursday (29/6/2023).

In this case, Chuck was previously sanctioned with dismissal through the KKEP trial which was held by the National Police on September 2, 2022.

Against that decision, Chuck filed an appeal. Because the appeal decision was granted, Chuck still has the status of an active member of the National Police.

The middle-ranking Polri officer was only given a one-year demotion sanction. “One year demotion,” said Ramadhan.
