This weekend, demonstrations took place in France to defend traditional bird hunts, deemed illegal by the Council of State. But images shot by the Quotidien show angered Internet users.
A video that cumulates nearly 290,000 views. Saturday, September 18, 16,000 hunters gathered in Mont-de-Marsan to show their anger. In the Quotidien images, you can see signs and slogans like “Angry hunters”, “Save my countryside, eat a vegan”. But one scene catches the attention of journalists: a pigeon, alive, hanging on a poster “Without him, more leisure”.
“We make animals suffer for fun”
The moment captured by Quotidien and relayed by journalist Hugo Clément quickly made the rounds on social networks. “This image says it all. A live pigeon attached to a sign that reads: ‘Without him, no more leisure’“, writes the journalist on his Instagram account. And to conclude:” There is no question here of ‘regulation’ or biodiversity. We make animals suffer for fun. And that’s all”.
On Twitter, Internet users are angry. “Tying a pigeon to a sign during the demonstration last Saturday … It says a lot about the vision of #animal hunters”, “Bravo !!! Dear hunters, you couldn’t do better to disgust us!“, can we see written in the quotes of the video.
