The voting of The Steam Awards 2023 players has ended and some of the results turned out to be very controversial. Sometimes even active Starfield and Red Dead Redemption 2 players disagree with them
Valve recently summed up the results of The Steam Awards 2023. Steam users participated in voting for games in various categories.
The results were in some cases very controversial. For example, Starfield won the Most Innovative Gameplay award, and Red Dead Redemption 2 received the Favorite Child award.
Starfield’s victory in this category by some perceived like some kind joke (trolling): Bethesda’s new product competed with Remnant 2, Your Only Move Is HUSTLE, Shadows of Doubt, Contraband Police.
They try to explain the result of Starfield by the banal popularity of the game; one of the discussion participants admitted that he voted for Starfield due to the fact that, of the listed games, he only tried it and Remnant 2. A certain bewilderment observed even among fans.
The situation with Red Dead Redemption 2 is also not very clear. The game received the “Favorite Dit” award, although the very fact of the nomination caused outrage in the community (at the same time, games are nominated by ordinary Steam users).
RDR 2 competed with such famous projects as Rust, Dota 2, Apex Legends and Deep Rock Galactic (whose fans not happy from the voting results) – they are being actively developed, but Rockstar Games has not pleased fans with full-fledged updates for quite some time.
