My personal opinion is that this monument cannot be the most dominant figure in the center of Sofia. It must be displaced. Bulgaria was then on the wrong side of history and an ally of Hitler’s Germany, political scientist Parvan Simeonov said in “Panorama”, quoted by novini.bg.
I see, however, democratic people who take pleasure in cutting human figures – it is scandalous. The other scandalous thing is that all the arguments against this monument are rather nationalistic. I can’t understand why the Liberals enjoy football fans and far-right people,” he added.
And praise the people who cut it. “They act delicately enough and quickly enough,” he commented.
Simeonov suggested, for example, that a monument to Khan Kubrat be erected on the site of the PSA.
“It is a lie that Bulgarian society is divided. We are a balanced, moderate and very wise society. It is not a society of extremes, it is a society that balances the East and the West. We have an open heart towards the East and this is our advantage. There is also extremes, but they swelled during the war in Ukraine. We look divided through the magnifying glass of social media. The political elite should not create division in the name of conjunctural goals,” the political scientist also commented.
