For the first time, a video is published from a controversial “partygate” party in Britain in 2020 under strict corona restrictions. The British newspaper The Mirror shared the video clip showing senior Tory politicians and staff gathered in the office of the Conservative Party. Boris Johnson was not there present at this party, but the reactions are still strong. Housing Secretary Michael Gove acknowledges that the video is “appalling” and “unacceptable”. Great Britain’s police are under pressure to reopen the investigation into the parties, having previously closed it due to insufficient evidence. view more
As the rest of the UK lived under strict corona restrictions in 2020 and 2021, a number of senior Tory politicians from the Conservative Party (The Conservative Party) on the right in the UK gathered for what were alleged to be several illegal parties.
The scandal was called “partygate” in the British press.
In the past, only pictures from the parties have circulated in the media, but now the British newspaper has The Mirror published a video from one of the parties that allegedly happened on December 14, 2020.
The video shows a dozen people gathered at what is supposed to be the party office of the Conservative Party. The party-goers can be seen standing close together in a room and drinking, among other things, beer and wine.
The then Prime Minister Boris Johnson is said not to have been present at this party.
A couple, identified as campaign advisers Malin Bogue and Jack Smith, swing dance to the famous Christmas carol “Fairytale of New York” by The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl.
In the video, the somewhat unsteady couple can be seen in their swing knocking over wine glasses and spilling over a table with food. The stage took place in front of several signs asking people to keep their distance.

– Are you filming this?
Several partygoers are aware that the dancing is being filmed, and are apparently worried about whether the video ends up in the wrong hands.
“Are you filming this?” asks a man halfway through the video.
You can also hear another say “As long as you don’t flow that we, as it were, bend the rules”.
The UK was living under some of the strictest corona restrictions in December 2020.
In London, it was forbidden for two or more people from different households to meet indoors, and Queen Elizabeth celebrated Christmas 2020 alone with her husband Prince Philip in Windsor Castle.
The Metropolitan Police investigated the parties in December 2020, but closed the investigation without issuing fines or other responses due to insufficient evidence.
The Mirror writes that the police in Great Britain are now under pressure to look at the case again.

Reactions do not take long
Current housing minister Michael Gove has commented on the video and admits it is “appalling” and “unacceptable”.
– I want to apologize to anyone who looks at this and thinks that these people are breaking the rules that are designed to protect us all, he said on the program Sophy Ridge on Sunday on the Sky channel.
Deputy leader of the British Labor party Angela Rayner has stated that the video shows that the Conservatives have openly mocked the rules followed by the British people.
– They believe that their own rules apply to themselves, and different rules for everyone else, she said.
