The much-discussed and controversial collaboration between Mercedes and Kingspan has come to a smooth end. The German racing stable announces that it is ending the deal with the controversial Irish company after much criticism.
The short-lived partnership between Mercedes and Irish Kingspan has already come to an end. Mercedes announced on Wednesday through a press release that the collaboration announced last week will be discontinued. The German Formula 1 team said in a press release that “it is not appropriate at this time to continue the cooperation under the current circumstances”. This ends the deal that was closed just a week ago.

Kingspan . allegations
Horner sees Verstappen as a better driver than Hamilton and wants a fair world titleread more
Soon after the deal between Mercedes and Kingspan, that collaboration came under fire. The Irish building materials company is said to have played a negative role in the tragic fire at London’s Grenfell Tower in 2017, which killed at least 72 people. Kingspan is accused of being instrumental in the fire as company materials were used to support the building’s cladding system. It is also called that Kingspan is running away from all responsibility.
Letters between action group and Wolff
Following the tragic incident, the ‘Grenfell United’ action group was set up by survivors of the fire and relatives of the people who died. That group immediately got into the pen and wrote a letter to Toto Wolff and Mercedes to renounce the collaboration. Wolff responded back in a public letter, in which he indicated that he would like to come to the table with the action group to talk about the situation. The racing stable does not seem to want to wait for that conversation and they choose eggs for their money by getting out of all the commotion. This brings the short-lived collaboration to an end after only one week.
