Controversial nomination for round hit: the match between Pilsen and Slavia will be whistled by referee Hocek known as the “butcher of the ČFL”

The referees committee handed out a rather surprising nomination for the weekend league games. In the very important and much-followed duel between Viktoria Plzeň and Slavia Praha, referee Petr Hock was appointed. However, this is a referee with a very controversial past.

Even though it’s still just the start of the season, there will be a lot at stake in this match. Pilsen and Slavia have the same number of points in the standings, so if they win one of the teams can become independent at the top of the standings.

The match therefore promises a very interesting show and high quality football. The referee’s performance should also help this, but the committee made an unexpected decision when it named Petr Hock for this match.

Petr Hocek is by no means an experienced referee, as he is currently in his fourth season in the first league and has managed 46 first league duels during that time. His statistics of the current season are interesting, in the six games played so far he has an average of 4.8 cards per game.

But it’s not his stats that strike this referee, but his past. Hotcek was embroiled in a corruption scandal involving influence on Vyšehrad matches. He was investigated by the ethics commission and, as one of the few, has remained on the list of arbitrators to this day.

It is therefore up to one to decide whether such a referee should blow the whistle for the most popular matches or still appear in the list of referees. Especially since he had previously performed his dubious performances in the third league, which earned him the nickname “the butcher of the CFL”.

The companies themselves are also dissatisfied with this arbiter. Jan Krob of Jabloneck said after the game with Slavia, managed by Hocek, that the referee’s performance was a mockery of football. Jihlava’s representatives spared no criticism after the match with Vyšehrad, when referee Hocek ordered a highly questionable penalty.
