Starfield received a negative user review on Metacritic, despite the fact that the game only comes out in September.
Recently, Metacritic user Joppsta360 reviewed Starfield in what appears to be a diatribe against Bethesda and its executive producer, Todd Howard. While it is unknown if this person actually played the game, he also left negative reviews for Diablo 4, giving every game a zero. It seems that the user is angry about microtransactions in Diablo 4, even if they are limited to cosmetics. Joppsta360’s review of Starfield implies that it is a disappointing project. By the way, the review has already been removed from the platform.
It’s probably safe to assume that this preliminary negative review is devoid of substance, but one can only speculate due to the anonymity of the Metacritic platform. According to Xbox head Matt Booty, Starfield has the fewest bugs of any other Bethesda game. If Booty’s words are true, this will certainly please Bethesda fans, who were hoping that turning the studio into Microsoft’s first magnitude would lead to stricter quality control, but fans will have to wait and see for themselves. In any case, the voice of the man who heads Xbox Game Studios is more authoritative than the opinion of a random user on Metacritic.
It’s unclear what this particular Metacritic user thinks Todd Howard is lying about. Howard has repeatedly mentioned Starfield, at one point comparing it to Red Dead Redemption 2 in terms of how the gameplay flows. Despite this, it is best not to read such user reviews too deeply; while they can be useful for players deciding whether or not to play a particular game, it’s usually pretty easy to tell if they’re sincere or not.
