Considered discriminating and dangerous for the local economy, the establishment of Atacadao has already been rejected by Sevran and Drancy. The Carrefour group then falls back on the store in Aulnay-sous-Bois, near the most popular districts. Despite the controversy, the town hall gives its approval:

The opposition regrets not having been informed of this decision earlier: “the only one who rolled out the red carpet was Bruno Beschizza, the mayor of Aulany-sous-Bois, who, moreover, received the Carrefour group on the sly without any discussion within the municipal council, without any debate within the city, knowing that we have neighborhood councils that took place before the summer. This is a subject that could have been discussed so I still find it quite surprising” notes Oussouf Siby, opposition municipal councilor.

For Zohra Abdallah, union representative, the future of the 350 employees is in suspense: “It’s a social disaster, 96 jobs will be cut, at least. Then, all the working conditions that will change and it will create even more precariousness in jobs that are already very precarious”.
10 million euros will be invested in this hypermarket. Atacadao in Aulnay-sous-Bois, a laboratory for the Carrefour group in decline in France.
