Controversial ‘Great Wall of Buttons’ in the Chevrolet Corvette C8 to Be Removed in 2025 Upgrade

The controversial “Great Wall of Buttons” could disappear with the 2025 upgrade.

The Chevrolet Corvette C8 is a truly impressive sports car with a proper engine in the middle, a great design and supposedly very good driving characteristics. Its cabin is also interesting, but shortly after its introduction, it aroused controversy with one particular element that earned the name “Great wall of buttons” after the example of the Great Wall of China.

We are talking about a special panel on the right side of the central tunnel, which is dotted with ventilation control buttons. On the one hand, it’s nice that Chevrolet left the controls with buttons, but on the other hand, the controls are a bit confusing, especially from the passenger side. Not to mention the fact that the panel further restricts the already rather cramped cabin of the new generation Corvette.

There have been speculations for a long time that the panel with buttons will disappear from the cabin, but so far there has been no indication of a specific date. For the first time, colleagues from MotorTrend wrote about the removal of the panel with buttons already in 2021. At that time, the design chief of the GM concern was also supposed to speak out against the panel, who was supposed to strive for its removal.

While that hasn’t happened yet, according to CorvetteBlogger, which cites a debate between Chevrolet technicians during the recent Corvette meeting in Carlisle, that moment is near. There was information that the wall with buttons will disappear from the cabin with the model year 2025. Its introduction is expected in 2024, but spy photographers could confirm the information even a little earlier.

With regard to user-friendliness, we can only hope that the engineers will manage to keep the physical buttons and integrate them somewhere else. The large wall of buttons could then be replaced by a discreet handle for the passenger, which the public liked in the C7 model.
