Levante accuses the women’s team of FC Twente of “unsportsmanlike behavior” after a dubious goal by the Tukkers. The Spanish club has filed an official complaint with UEFA, reports RTV Oost.

Last Saturday the clubs faced each other. FC Twente won 3-2 after a 0-2 deficit and therefore qualified for the final qualifying round for the group stage of the Champions League.

It concerns Twente’s 1-2, scored by Renate Jansen. Levante played the ball out due to an injured player at FC Twente. Twente then seemed to resume the game by giving the ball back to the opponent, but Jansen ran away and scored.

FC Twente scores a dubious and unsportsmanlike goal, Levante files a complaint

In football it is customary to give the ball back if the opponent has shot out due to an injury to one of your players. However, this is not an obligation, there is nothing about it in the rules.

A statement from the Valencia club said: “After collecting all the documentation, the testimonies of those present and viewing the images, the Secretary of the Board of Directors has filed a complaint with the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the unsportsmanlike conduct behavior of FC Twente in last Saturday’s match.”

Levante wants UEFA to investigate and then take “appropriate disciplinary action”. A press officer from FC Twente says that the club does not want to respond to the complaint from the Spanish club.
