A long article published in the world warns us: Roman Polanski, Woody Allen and Luc Besson are “a very contested return” at the Venice Film Festival and, for the third, in Deauville. Who disputes? A “collective” of artists and technicians from French cinema, of which we cannot say that it is representative of anything other than fashionable ideas and postures. As we know, the three filmmakers were prosecuted for sexual offenses. Roman Polanski paid handsomely for acts dating from 1977, and the victim, Samantha Geimer, has considered the case closed since 1993. Woody Allen was the target of false accusations, he was exonerated by the United States justice system, which does not have the reputation of being lenient towards sex offenders. The actress who had filed a complaint against Luc Besson was dismissed at first instance then on appeal, and the Court of Cassation rejected her appeal. In other words, justice establishes the innocence of Luc Besson.
