Users of social networks circulated a video that was said to be of the “killing of an Egyptian citizen at the hands of the police” in the Matrouh area.
The video shows a group of men fighting on a street at night before one of them shoots.
The accompanying commentary reads, “A video of the killing of a young man in Matrouh…in Egypt, the competition to kill citizens between members of the army and the police every day is a new incident, the latest of which is the killing of a citizen in Matrouh.”
The circulation of this video comes in reference to what was reported by Egyptian and Arab websites about the killing of a young man by a police officer in the city of Sidi Barani in the Matrouh governorate, and what was also reported that a number of the city’s residents protested in the streets and in front of the police station after the funeral.
The authorities did not issue any comment on this news, nor was there any similar news on any government media.
After checking the video, it was found that it had nothing to do with this news, and by cutting it into fixed scenes, the search was directed to it published On September 21, 2019, on several news sites, and it is related to the demonstrations that Egypt witnessed during that period, according to what France Press reported.
At that time, Cairo and other Egyptian cities witnessed demonstrations in which hundreds of people participated, after the Egyptian contractor and actor, Muhammad Ali, published video recordings accusing the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and the military elite of corruption.
