Fire control in block in Fredrikstad
There was a massive fire in an apartment building on the east side of Fredrikstad Thursday evening. The fire broke out in an apartment on the second floor. Firefighters are in control of the fire.
The police inform NRK that two people are registered in the apartment where the fire started, one of whom was taken to hospital after inhaling smoke. The other is cared for by the on-site health personnel. No one should be seriously injured.
A total of 15 residents have been evacuated. All the apartments on the high ground are considered uninhabitable for the time being, writes the police on Twitter.
Firefighters arrived at the scene just before 10.20pm. They were informed of the fire at 10.08pm Thursday night.
– We have received a report of a complete fire in an apartment. There is a risk of spread as of now, duty manager at 110 plant Vegard Andersen told NRK at 10.20pm.
Fredrikstad Municipality is assisting the evacuated residents.
