Controller: High power density and control performance

New servo controllers on the PLC

Maxon is presenting its new Escon2 servo controllers at SPS 2024. Together with the user-friendly Motion Studio software, developers can use it to implement innovative ideas or optimize existing devices. The spectrum of applications ranges from simple fans to complex logistics robots.

The Escon2 Module 60/30 is the most powerful derivative of the new product line and impresses with 1,800 W continuous power and a peak power of 3,600 W. It is supplied with 60 V / 30 A. There is also an equally powerful compact version that can be connected directly thanks to industrial connectors. The Escon2 Micro 60/5 also offers a lot of power in a small space with 300 W continuous power and 600 W peak power (current: 5 A), for which the manufacturer also provides an evaluation board for easy commissioning. The controllers rely on the latest technology in semiconductor and circuit board production. This allows them to achieve high power density and control performance for torque and speed. Functionally, they link seamlessly to their previous versions and offer additional features.

For highly miniaturized applications, the manufacturer has also announced the Escon2 Nano 24/2 as a further derivative of the product line in the fall. Thanks to their versatility, Escon2 controllers can be used in a wide variety of applications. They are equally suitable for simple analog/digital commanded standalone applications such as fans, scanners and pumps as well as for sophisticated CANopen-based systems in AGVs, hand tools or logistics and transport applications.

A developer tool for the entire drive range

The newly developed Motion Studio software takes the configuration and operation of drive systems to a new level. According to the manufacturer, a user-friendly interface and powerful analysis tools significantly simplify the work of engineers. The software supports the new Escon2 products and all existing Escon controllers, thus offering a uniform tool for the entire drive range.
