After a terrible weekend for many around the country, in the next few weeks Northern Norway will have the best summer holiday weather.
There, the high pressure holds, and it remains dry and sunny.
– It will be quite a nice week in the north, with temperatures around 25 degrees and lots of sun – considerably warmer than in southern Norway, says meteorologist Eldbjørg Moxnes at the Meteorological Institute to Dagbladet.
According to all sun signs, the contrast is great in southern Norway, where the low pressures come in a row.

Colder than normal in the south
The unstable weather in the south will be felt from Sørlandet up to Trøndelag, where the coming week offers cooler and wetter weather than normal.
– The following week there are slightly weaker signals, but it seems that it will also be relatively wet and colder than normal in southern Norway, says Moxnes.
Then, says the meteorologist, it is likely to get a little warmer again in the last week of July.
– However, it is quite uncertain, she says.
In central Norway, the temperature is expected to drop from 20 degrees at the start of the week, down to 12 to 15 degrees from the middle of the week. Western Norway south of Stadt will end up at just under 15 degrees during the week, and roughly the same applies to Eastern Norway.
WARNING BECAME REALITY: This “weather forecast” from 2014 was supposed to show how hot the weather could be in 2050 due to global warming. The UN organization behind the campaign might not have foreseen that the temperatures would already reach the same levels four years later. view more
Warning of torrential rain
The institute has sent out hazard warnings for torrential rain on Monday, which applies to parts of Eastern Norway, Agder and parts of Rogaland.
– There will be a number of afternoon showers, which look quite powerful, says Moxnes.
The most rainfall, she says, is expected in Southern Norway and in Rogaland. There will be up to 20 millimeters in one hour in some places, and a total of between 40 and 50 millimeters during the day.
Lightning and thunder, followed by heavy rain, are also expected in Trøndelag and Møre og Romsdal, about which the institute will issue a warning.
Exactly where the low pressures end up is difficult to estimate for a long time in advance. The meteorologist therefore encourages people to follow the weather forecasts from day to day.
UN: – Out of control
Burnt in Spain
In the south of the continent, a scorching week is expected.
– It is often the case that when there is low pressure here, it is fine further south. It looks like there will be a lot of sun and perhaps excessively hot, says Moxnes.
In southern Spain, for example, temperatures of well over 40 degrees were expected.
Dagbladet wrote earlier this week that the temperature in some places can reach as high as 50 degrees.
– I don’t think it has been measured in Europe. It is seen in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Temperatures above 50 degrees are not viable. You don’t want to experience that, said Tore Furevik, professor of climate dynamics at the University of Bergen, to Dagbladet.
However, he believes that Europe is well on its way to such temperatures not being so unusual anymore.
– The heat waves we have seen in recent years have constantly set new records and led to widespread drought, and the strength of the heat waves has surprised many scientists. So that it will be 50 degrees in the south of Europe will happen, probably in a short time.
