The National Development Finance, FDN, awarded the contract for the structuring of the Metro Line 2 project, which will operate in the towns of Chapinero, Barrios Unidos, Engativá and Suba. The selected group is the Union Temporal MOVIUS – UT Sustainable Urban Mobility, made up of Garrigues Colombia SAS, Brigard & Urrutia Abogados, KPMG Advisory Tax & Legal SAS, Bonus Banca de Inversión SAS, Systra SA Colombia branch and Ingetec Ingeniería y Diseño.
This group, which includes specialized technical, financial and legal consultants, will be in charge of support technical studies and designs at the feasibility level, as well as legal and financial structuring which will define, in the first instance, what will be the contracting model for the execution of the project of Line 2 of the Bogotá metro The consulting team will define the documents that will allow meeting the requirements to obtain the technical endorsement and the fiscal endorsement of the project, so that co-financing can be accessed by the Nation and take Line 2 to the contracting process The derivation of the metro system from the capital of the Republic to the northwest It will benefit about 2.5 million citizens and it is expected to generate more than 5,000 direct jobs. during its construction stage. In total, it will have an area of 15.8 kilometers, of which the vast majority will be underground. Along the route, 11 stations will be built.
Line 2 would start operating in 2030
It is estimated that Line 2 of the Bogotá metro will start operating in 2030, with 23 trains of six wagons each, moving about 45,000 passengers per hour in each direction and increasing the use of the metro network by nearly 700,000 daily trips. .

The president highlighted that Line 2 becomes an opportunity for urban revitalization for the town of Suba, where a whole citadel of care and education will be built. He added that in the POT it is contemplated that the Metro stations and their surroundings have equipment to start up care services and turn the Bogotá Metro into a great ally of the District Care System.
For his part, the president Iván Duque reaffirmed his government’s support for a project that he described as fundamental, not only for Bogotá but for the entire country:
“This is a very powerful message for citizens. If anyone has doubts that in Colombia we are not capable of concentrating on what unites us and not on what divides us, today you have your answer. Because this is not a vain or individual project, this is not the project of Claudia López or Iván Duque, it is a project for the country, for the city. When they are inaugurating it, neither you (Mayor) nor I will be in the exercise of these positions.
