Continuous efforts to extinguish the fire of an electrical equipment factory south of Beirut

Efforts are still continuing, until midnight Beirut time, to extinguish the fire raging in the “Concorde” plant in the town of Naameh, south of the capital, Beirut.

The Civil Defense announced the outcome of its operations inside the factory, confirming that 21 workers were rescued from the roof of the building with the support of the rescue ladder of a fire brigade, and the body of one of the workers was pulled from the factory and transferred to Siblin Governmental Hospital.

The head of a center in the region for civil defense told Sky News Arabia, “The fire is still burning, and the building consists of 7 floors, all of which belong to the Concorde factory, and it is located on a street that includes other factories, and that the burning materials were caused by gas,” calling for caution for the residents in the region.

“The Lebanese army and security forces are still besieging the area and preventing access to the street leading to the factory,” he added.

A civil defense worker told Sky News Arabia, “We are working hard to extinguish the seventh and last floor, the center of the fire,” noting that the task of extinguishing the fire is not easy and may continue until Wednesday morning.

Eyewitnesses told Sky News Arabia that “the fire resulted in the collapse of parts of the walls of the seventh floor of the burning building, and that the ceiling is still there until this moment.”

Khaled Atwi, a resident of the area, said, “The civil defense agency and firefighters asked the residents of the vicinity of the fire to evacuate the area to a distance of 700 meters because of the fire and the danger of breathing in the flammable materials that are made in the manufacture of electrical appliances.”

Black smoke covered the place all the way to Beirut.

And private medical sources told Sky News Arabia that 8 injured people were transferred from the laboratory, 4 of them to Siblin Governmental Hospital, two of whom are in serious condition, one of whom died an hour ago, of Bangladeshi dependency, and two who sustained separate injuries, in addition to the transfer of 4 injured to Bahman Hospital. In the southern suburb of Beirut, including 3 people with separate injuries and a fainting state

It should be noted that other injuries were transmitted by other parties.

The factory is “Concord.” One of the most prominent Lebanese National Factory for the manufacture of refrigerators and refrigerators, and is one of the largest factories in Lebanon and the Arab world.

The factory includes more than 3,500 workers of Lebanese, Syrian and Bangladeshi nationalities.

While the civil defense efforts are still in place, no information was available about the causes of the fire, whose smoke covered the sky of the capital, Beirut.
