SC Freiburg has extended the contracts of its two board members Oliver Leki and Jochen Saier until 2024. “Oliver Leki and Jochen Saier have significantly contributed to the positive overall development of the club in recent years”said the chairman of the SC supervisory board Heinrich Breit in a statement from the Bundesliga club on Tuesday.

The 42-year-old Saier continues to be responsible for the entire sporting area of the Breisgau residents. Leki (47) is responsible for finance, organization and marketing. In addition to his job with the Freiburg team, Leki has also been on the Executive Committee of the German Football League since August 2019.

Sports director Saier is now hoping that coach Christian Streich will stay at SC Freiburg beyond next summer. “The fascinating thing is that this fire is still blazing in him, that the energy is still there. The hope is that this path will continue together,” Saier said German press agency. Streich has been the head coach of the sports club for almost nine years. The 55-year-old is currently by far the longest-serving coach in the Bundesliga. After the season, his contract in Freiburg expires.
