The Directorate of Health Affairs in Aswan continued to implement the President’s initiative to support maternal and fetal health, which was launched at the beginning of this month, under the patronage of Dr. Ihab Emad Hanafi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Aswan, and Dr. Mahmoud Abdel-Shafi, Director of the Maternal and Childhood Department.
According to a statement issued by the Aswan Health Directorate, the initiative aims to examine all pregnant women for hepatitis B virus, syphilis, and HIV, in addition to stress testing, and physical measurements of weight and height, and measuring the proportion of Blood sugar, to prevent the transmission of diseases from mother to fetus, in all health units that include mother and child services.
The initiative to support maternal and fetal health is a “sustainable initiative”, as it will operate for a period of three months as a first stage, after which it continues to work periodically in health units, in addition to other medical services provided by these units.
