With the roadblocks caused by the truckers’ strike, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development implemented an emergency action plan to ensure that vehicles carrying food and essential products across the country proceed with priority
The agricultural package asked the authorities and leaders of the strike to allow supply corridors to avoid economic losses and ensure food supply in the country.
In this sense, the ministry installed a Unified Command Post (PMU) for the sector, which works in permanent coordination with the Ministry of Transport to monitor the food supply situation at the national level.
This study aims to quickly identify the affected areas and implement emergency plans, alternative routes and supply corridors, with the aim of reducing the impact on producers and consumers.
‘It is essential that vehicles carrying food, live animals and perishable products can travel without restrictions,’ said the Ministry, which warned that blocking these vehicles could generate significant losses for producers and shortages in the markets , which would then do so. that could lead to price speculation which would directly affect consumers.
The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed the need to guarantee that these vehicles are moved safely and quickly, stressing that access to new products and fair prices is a right of citizens.
