Continental Unveils Crystal Center Display at CES 2024 with Swarovski Partnership

During the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show CES in Las Vegas, Continental, one of the largest suppliers in the automotive industry, presented a very impressive innovation that could eventually appear on the dashboards of luxury and premium brands.

Thanks to the use of microLED displays, the company created a transparent infotainment display, which was subsequently integrated into transparent Swarovski crystal. The company then refers to the whole as Crystal Center Display.

Thanks to microLED technology, the display should have high brightness and contrast

“With the Crystal Center Display as a key element, we want to turn the world of interior design upside down and create an innovative focal point for the premium cars of the future – one that captures attention and evokes emotion,” said Dr. Boris Mergell, Head of User Experience at Continental.

The microLED technology ensures transparency, high brightness and contrast of the display, but the company has not yet demonstrated its functionality in action. The specific shapes of the crystal were then created by Swarovski Mobility using a special grinding technique.

“Our crystal thus becomes much more than just an interior design element – users perceive it as a key interaction interface in the vehicle,” said Peter Widmann, CEO of Swarovski Mobility.
