“Continental” representatives are looking for opportunities to bring more employees from Jonava

Jonava District Municipality Mayor Mindaugas Sinkevičius met with the manager of Continental Automotive Lithuania Shayan Ali.

Representatives of the companies operating in the Kaunas SEZ and the municipality discussed the possibilities of cooperation and transportation issues for company employees living in Jonava, the municipality reports.

Currently, the Continental factory employs about 60 people from Iona. The company itself organizes the transportation of employees from Jonava.

According to company representatives, Continental is planning a second phase of expansion, after which the plant’s capacity will more than double and the number of employees will exceed one thousand.

The company estimates that this year alone it could employ up to a hundred workers from Jonava, and in the next three years the number of people coming to work from the Jonava district could reach 300 or more.

“While planning the development, company representatives are looking for opportunities to organize a convenient transportation for employees from Jonava to and from work together with the municipality. We are talking about the creation of the “Jonava bus” route, when the company would buy a part of the tickets for this trip for its employees”, says Jonava district mayor M. Sinkevičius.

In Jonava, it would not be a new service when the employer buys part of the public transport tickets for its employees – this is the arrangement used by Jonava residents traveling to work at the Lithuanian Rehabilitation and Nursing Center operating in Rukla.

“Continental” company started its activities in Kaunas district at the end of 2019. The factory built in the SEZ was the largest investment in the manufacturing sector in Lithuania in 20 years.

The company manufactures automotive electronic components and sensors designed to increase car comfort and safety, and operates them for the largest car manufacturers around the world.

“Continental” in Lithuania cooperates with various training centers, is open to summer internships for students, career specialists, willingly organizes excursions for students, introducing them to its activities, and carries out other social initiatives.
