Contexts of care – Zarabaza

The book “Contesti di cura” is presented in Caltanissetta, a manual on health promotion by the psychologist Giuseppe Lombardo from Nisse.

The volume by Giuseppe Lombardo entitled “Contexts of care”, published by the Don Sorce Institute, will be presented in Caltanissetta on 30 October at Palazzo Notarbartolo (Piazza San Giuseppe) at 5pm, the first text of the publishing house’s “Studies and research” series “Solidarity”.

The book presents numerous reflections, between the theoretical and the applied, on health promotion, paying particular attention to the “contexts”, i.e. to the settings.

The main motivation of the volume, specified by the subtitle (“Conditions and opportunities for health promotion in settings”), is to orient health promotion initiatives to the modification of contexts (social, health and school), to the creation or strengthening “health” conditions in every organization and in every environment.

Dr. Lombardo, who for over twenty years directed the Education and Health Promotion Operational Unit of the ASP of Caltanissetta, presents the results or methods of conducting some experiences carried out, making tools and reports on the activities available to the reader and always paying great attention to the contextual conditions: areas of experience supported by the method and vast bibliographical documentation.

The author declares in his introduction that “wellbeing, quality of life and health are multifactorial phenomena” and that therefore, consistently, health promotion, rather than aiming to correct individual lifestyles, should tend to encourage changes environmental, organizational and social: living conditions that support the “cause” of health.

The volume is made up of four chapters: the first introductory, the second on the analysis of needs according to the most effective and most widely used approaches in health promotion, the third on hospital services and the fourth on groups and group dynamics in school contexts. health and community. As mentioned, the book also offers some examples, largely drawn from the author’s experience in theoretical-practical in-depth boxes. Salvo Giambelluca claims in the presentation that the text offers “the opportunity to explore the current context of health promotion through an innovative and pragmatic lens and constitutes a useful guide intended for health, school and social workers, aimed both at those they are approaching health promotion for the first time, but also those who wish to broaden their knowledge and integrate their gaze with new points of view”. After the introduction by the President of the Don Sorce Institute, Dr. Giorgio De Cristoforo, the text will be presented by Prof. Alessandra Belvedere, School Director, and Dr. Salvo Giambelluca, expert in healthcare training; interventions from the public and the author are also foreseen.

Giuseppe Lombardo is a psychologist and teaches “Theories and Techniques of Group Dynamics” in the degree course in education and training sciences at the IDS, affiliated to the Pontifical Faculty of Education Sciences “Auxilium” in Rome. He is the author of numerous publications in the educational and health promotion fields; in 2007 he published the volume “Health education and construction of meaning” (Sciascia, Caltanissetta-Rome).
