The independent Barnabás Rácz became the mayor of Dunaszentpál in Győr-Moson-Sopron county, after receiving 49.5 percent of the votes in the by-election held on Sunday. According to the information, Barnabás Rácz received 150 votes. Among the other independent candidates, Zsolt Bekő received 128 votes, Adrienn Csaplár-Bedő received 21 votes, and Viktor Csapó received 4 votes.

An interim local government election was held in Dunaszentpál because Attila Csontos (independent), who won the mayor’s office in the June 9 vote, died in July, MTI reported.

In the by-election held on Sunday, the independent László Szloboda was elected mayor of the village of Szabolcs in the counties of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg. According to the information on valasztas.hu, the candidate who ran as the only candidate in the election received 84 votes.

Out of 285 local residents with the right to vote, 86 appeared at the ballot box, two votes were invalid. Interim voting had to be held in around 340 participating towns because László Csegei (independent), who won the post in June this year, resigned.
