YouTube Germany has announced that it will take better care of the mental health of its German-language content producers.
Germany boss Andreas Briese (54) tells “Stern”: “The world has become more complicated. Today there are YouTube, Twitch, Snapchat, TikTok shorts, long, medium, short videos, podcasts, live. A creator must think about how to navigate through it.
Content creators receive a website with wellness advice, burnout videos and courses, and, if needed, psychological coaches.
Recently, more and more YouTubers have come forward complaining of overload and burnout, like Joey of ‘Joey’s World’, who shut down his channel in January 2022 because he felt it was ‘completely empty’, as he revealed to ‘Stern’.
Cyberbullying has occurred in some cases, such as in the case of Rainer Winkler, known as “Drachenlord”, who was belittled, insulted and physically harassed in his home for years.
In the 15 years since the German-language version was launched, personalities such as Rezo, Fynn Kliemann, Shirin David and Bianca “Bibi” Classen as well as bands such as Annen May Kantereit and Milky Chance have become very popular.
