Contenders for Sofia Mayor: Vasil Terziev vs. Prof. Vili Lilkov

The nominations for who will be a candidate for mayor in Sofia in the elections at the end of October are becoming more and more fierce on the right. As of today, there is another contender for the post.

“Democratic Bulgaria” is in a parliamentary coalition with “Continuing the change”, SDS is in a coalition with GERB, but the old blue supporters of the right in the capital do not seem to like their elected officials.

PP have already announced that they are promoting businessman Vasil Terziev. DB’s attitude is not entirely clear.

GERB is expected to nominate the current chairman of the Metropolitan Municipal Council, Georgi Georgiev. Maybe the SDS will support him.

Vili Lilkov was a municipal councilor and deputy chairman of the Municipal Council in Sofia for 15 years, then an MP. In 2015, he was a candidate for the mayor of Sofia, nominated by the Reform Bloc, where he was then DSB.

He is a professor at the University of Mining and Geology. Married, has three sons.
