The idea of a philosophically powerful show symbolizing the power and grandeur of the movement began in 2020, but the pandemic slowed it down and transformed it. However, external circumstances only made the idea more spacious.
The non-stop movement in a circle, involving an increasing number of participants, forms an existentially strong message, which everyone is allowed to interpret both by dancing and just watching from the sidelines. In the dance performance, creative synergy with the music of Juris Kaukulis, the lights of Oskars Pauliņš and the involvement of more than 40 dancers of different generations in the performance play an important role. The creators reveal that the show was originally intended for only six dancers.
Choreographer Anton Dinchinikov from Ukraine says of the event: “It brings you to a different state of consciousness. It cannot be explained or understood. But being here is a kind of meditation. This movement resembles the vortex of life that revolves around you.”
The International Festival of Contemporary Dance “Time to Dance” will continue until June 21. Its choreographer Olga Žitluhina has gathered a record number of participants from 13 countries around the world in Latvia this year.
