The IAACC Pablo Serrano hosts the exhibition Surrealist poetics. Contemporary Aragonese Art. The exhibition has the work of Francisco de Goya as a reference and seeks to demonstrate the validity of the Fuendetodos artist in contemporary works. The presentation has been directed by the director of the museum, Julio Ramon, which has been accompanied by Victor Lucea, general director of Culture, and the deputy delegate of Culture of the Diputación de Zaragoza, Ros Cihuelo.

The exhibition is chaired by the series Whims Y Disparates, which present the dialogue between classical authors and current creators. The exhibition wants to show the ties with surrealism that exist in Aragon and, in addition, show the creative situation in the community today. “The main objective is to disseminate Goya’s work and also update it, tracking its impact on current creations”, has pointed out Lucea, who has defended that Surrealist poetics fulfills the marked purposes.

“Goya’s footprint as a surrealist is explored in artists who succeeded him,” explained the general director of Culture, who recalled that the exhibition includes works by Víctor Mira, Ramón Masats and Antonio Saura. The exhibition of these great authors serves, in turn, as a way for the presence of contemporary artists, who teach the operation of surrealist art in the 21st century. The exhibition also addresses, with an audiovisual report, the opinion of the different authors on the presence of Goya in contemporary art.

Cihuelo has defined as “Fabulous experience” for the DPZ to learn more about the life of Goya, a “Generator of identity feeling through his art”. The deputy has also highlighted that Fuentetodos is a fundamental figure for “Internationalize all the talent and all the creativity in this land”.

Pablo Serrano also has a work in the exhibition, in addition to contemporary artists such as Natalia Escudero and Antonio Fernández Alvira, or the collaborations of OPN Studio and Señor Cifrián. Past, present and future of Aragonese artistic creation come together in a room with surrealism and Goya’s art as a meeting point.

Surrealist poetics It is one of the projects included in the Goya Year, which celebrates the 275th anniversary of the artist’s birth with a multitude of artistic exhibitions during this 2021. The IAACC Pablo Serrano exhibition can be visited until August 29 of this year.
