Consumption of Green Vegetables Triggers Gout? This is the Fact

VIVAGout become one of the problems of urban society that triggers the inhibition of many activities. But not a few are still confused about the causes of gout, even green vegetable as the culprit. What are the facts?

According to the Herbalife Nutrition Nutrition Advisory Board, Dr. Forester, eating vegetables is one of the efforts to fight various diseases so that the body will be more fit. In fact, green vegetables have been proven to be effective in reducing various non-communicable diseases (PTM) that originate from cholesterol.

“Consuming lots of vegetables can lower cholesterol because there is fiber that can inhibit cholesterol absorption in the body. Cholesterol absorbed can be reduced through feces,” said Rimbawan, in a virtual event with Herbalife Indonesia, some time ago.

Even so, there are not a few studies linking green vegetables with gout or uric acid gout, thus making people reluctant to consume it. Gout itself is triggered by high levels of purines in the blood which then cause pain.

“Gout is uric acid that doesn’t dissolve in water and tries to collect in joints causing pain. Uric acid comes from purines. Foods high in purines cause gout. Foods high in purines can trigger gout,” said Forester.

Not a few studies that mention green vegetables contain levels of purines which are then associated with gout triggers. However, Dr. Rimbawan emphasized that purine levels in animal protein are actually more dangerous for uric acid.

“Between the offal compared to plants, the offal is much higher. So it is better to avoid offal. For example, the heart, lungs, intestines, especially beef liver, where there are many cells,” he explained.

These organs, said Rimbawan, are the places where the most blood is channeled because they work the most in the body. Like the heart that pumps blood, or the heart where the body’s toxins are drained to be excreted through the intestines.

“It means it’s all there, purines too. That’s where if you eat too much then the risk of uric acid is high. Vegetables are high in fiber, the risk of gout can be removed,” he ordered.
