It does not appear that the Danish royal family spared the krone. In Danish documents The extra sheet have gained insight into, it emerges that the royal family’s consumption has exploded.
Admits blister
In 2022, Queen Margrethe was reimbursed around NOK 14 million, which means that her consumption of goods subject to VAT last year amounted to over NOK 70 million.
This is significantly higher than in 2021, when the amount was almost NOK 56 million.
Responds to criticism
The reason why the Queen gets money back is because members of the Danish royal house are exempt from paying VAT and therefore pay significantly less than ordinary Danes when they buy goods or services.
Ekstrabladet further writes that they have been in contact with the royal household, and that they have asked why her consumption has increased so sharply. They do not wish to comment on the case, and instead refer to a comment the court’s chief financial officer, Dan Folke Pedersen, has given to Danish Se og Hør earlier:
– Not on speaking terms
– In the royal house, like the rest of society, we have felt the crisis we have been through, which has partly resulted in increased inflation and increased energy costs. And then we have spent extra money on the government jubilee, just as we have spent a lot of money on refurbishing our various buildings.
Prince Joachim and Princess Marie, as well as Princess Benedikte, also had an increase in their consumption in 2022. Respectively NOK 1.5 million against NOK 1.2 million for Joachim, and NOK 1.9 million against NOK 1.5 million for Benedikte.
Rare Reveal: – One fat
The crown prince couple’s consumption, on the other hand, decreased.
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary spent less money last year than they did in 2021.
Last year, the crown prince couple spent NOK 16.7 million. The year before that, they spent NOK 20.7 million.
Nor did the royal household wish to comment on the decline in consumption.
