WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Household consumption in the United States rebounded in March on higher incomes as households received federal government financial assistance to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
Consumer spending, which accounts for more than two-thirds of economic activity in the United States, rose 4.2% last month after falling 1.0% in February, data released by the department on Friday show. Trade.
Household incomes, for their part, climbed 21.1% after falling 7.1% in February.
Economists polled by Reuters on average forecast a 4.1% rise in consumer spending and a 20.3% jump in income.
