Consumer Protection Commissioners propose temporary suspension of altex.ro website in the context of Black Friday

The Commissioners from Consumer Protection proposed the temporary suspension of the activity of the altex.ro site for incorrect commercial practices in the context of Black Friday.

According to a communiqué of the National Authority for Consumer Protection, sent on Tuesday to Agerpres, as a result of the irregularities found, the economic operator was sanctioned with a contravention fine in the amount of 50,000 lei.

“ANPC will inform the authorities in the field, namely the National Audiovisual Council and the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI, regarding the deviations registered by Black Friday at Altex, in order to prevent further promotion of this type of” reduction of price “non-compliant”, states the institution.

Under the coordination of the General Directorate for Market Control and Surveillance and European Harmonization, within the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) together with the Bucharest-Ilfov Regional Commissioner for Consumer Protection, an online environment check was carried out in recent days. which runs the period known as “Black Friday” – a peak of annual promotions.

Thus, on November 9, 2021, by accessing the site www.altex.ro, ANPC commissioners found that the economic operator promoted products as being at a price reduction, without applying the reductions in the reference price (the lowest price charged in the same sales area during the last 30 days, before the date of application of the reduced price). ANPC control teams have detected over 1,000 products with price deviations, displayed on the site, states ANPC.
