Houston, September 2, 2021. The Consulate General of Guatemala in Houston, Texas, provided assistance to return to the country safely to a vulnerable family of nationals, including a minor, who had been hospitalized in the United States.
The boy, who had suffered severe burns over a large part of the body, through efforts by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minex) was sent to Shriner’s Hospital in Galveston, Texas, where he received treatment for four months.
After his recovery, he returned with his family to his home in Senahú, Alta Verapaz. During his stay in the United States, he received support from the Consular Mission, including translation support from English to Q’eqchi ‘with the assistance of the Guatemalan community in that country.
Minex and its consulates reaffirm their commitment to support their fellow citizens abroad, providing all the assistance and protection they require, as well as the consular services they need.
