Chicago, United States, October 5, 2021. The Consulate General of Guatemala in Chicago, United States, assists with the repatriation of a national who died in an accident at his residence in Illinois on October 4.
The 36-year-old Guatemalan man was repairing a vehicle at his home in the city of Palatine, but due to an accident, the car fell on him, killing him, his wife told the Consular Mission.
Officials from the Consulate in Chicago provided the family with information on the fund “Assistance for Guatemalan migrants in vulnerable situations and those who died abroad” and the procedure and documents to initiate the process, as well as information on funeral homes in Illinois.
The wife of the deceased reported that his family resides in Guatemala, therefore, if requested, the Consulate will assist them with the repatriation of the body.
