Construction worker NY, environmental activist in Honduras

The construction work of Moisés Hernández is not easy at all, but his effort goes further.

“It’s hard when you do it just for the money, but when you have a passion for what you do and a purpose, it’s easier,” Hernández explained.

Moises is an environmental activist. After a long day at work, Moses meditates under a tree before entering his home.

“So when you get home you don’t have the stress it brings, then you can arrive in peace and harmony and thus have a calmer space,” Hernández added.

It is the idea behind ‘El Edén de los Rafaeles’, a forest in the department of Colón, Honduras that is maintained by Moisés and his brothers in honor of their father.

Rafael Hernandez was an environmental activist who according to Moisés was killed in retaliation for opposing the destruction of the forest. Now he wants to educate others on how to protect nature.

“Create a platform in which we can impart knowledge and awareness of what it means to care for the primary forest, biodiversity and in the same way how to live in harmony between humans and nature,” said Hernández.

Moisés has created a page of Go Fund Me to raise $ 10,000. For every dollar donated, up to 10,000 trees can be planted in three months.

“It is aimed at all those people who feel that something can be done by nature, who feel the desire to do it.”

Moisés wants to return to Honduras next year to start planting his trees in the forest.
