The warned fire brigade called in a specialized team from Alphen aan den Rijn to get the man out of the crawl space. The contractor also sent a sand dredger to remove the sand. Even the USAR rescue team, deployed in domestic and foreign disasters, was on the scene.
“It was very bizarre,” says the victim. “There was someone from the fire brigade with me all the time. He reassured me.
After hours of digging, the man was released from his predicament. “I was just dizzy,” he says. “But then it actually went pretty well.”
