Dusseldorf. In the period from May 26th to June 4th, passengers have to be prepared for changes in the operational sequence and temporary replacement traffic. Deutsche Bahn is working on the infrastructure in the Düsseldorf-Bilk area.
Deutsche Bahn is continuing to build the entrance and exit for trains at the future platform of the new regional stop in Düsseldorf-Bilk. Now that the necessary tracks and switches are in place, work on the control and safety technology is on the construction program from May 26th to June 4th.
According to Deutsche Bahn, the following changes will be made for local transport from 10 p.m. on May 26 to around 5 a.m. on June 4: During the construction work, express buses will run without intermediate stops between Düsseldorf Hbf and Mönchengladbach Hbf or Neuss Hbf Stop between Neuss Hbf or occasionally to Kaarster See and Düsseldorf Hbf.
Several lines of regional and suburban railways are affected; there are no changes for long-distance traffic:
- Trains on the Regional Express line RE 4 (National Express) are canceled between Düsseldorf Hbf and Neuss Hbf. The additional rush hour trains are canceled between Mönchengladbach Hbf and Düsseldorf Hbf.
- The Neuss Hbf stop is canceled due to a diversion on two evening train pairs on the Regional Express line RE 5 (National Express) out. The trains also stop in Düsseldorf-Benrath, Leverkusen Mitte, Cologne-Mülheim, Cologne-Messe / Deutz and Cologne Hbf.
- Trains on the Regional Express line RE 10 (NordWestBahn) are diverted from Krefeld-Oppum to Duisburg Hbf and end or start there. A replacement rail service has been set up between Meerbusch-Osterath and Krefeld-Oppum. The underground lines 76 are available between Krefeld Hbf and Düsseldorf Hbf.
- Trains on the Regional Express line RE 13 (eurobahn) are canceled between Mönchengladbach Hbf and Düsseldorf Hbf.
- Regional trains RB 39 (VIAS) and the S-Bahn lines S 8 and S 11 (DB Regio) are canceled between Düsseldorf Hbf and Neuss Hbf.
- Trains on the S-Bahn line S 28 (regional train) are canceled between Neuss Hbf and Düsseldorf Hbf. On May 26th there is also a failure between Neuss Hbf and Kaarster See
“Season ticket customers affected by the measure, who have Düsseldorf in the area of validity of their ticket, can use all diversion routes without additional payment,” said Deutsche Bahn.
Deutsche Bahn plans to complete the regional stop in March 2022. Starting in August, DB will build the new 280-meter-long central platform and access to Friedrichstrasse via stairs and a new elevator. In order to do this, the long-distance railway tracks will have to be closed from August 13th to December 19th.
