Construction, Salvini’s MIT promises an intervention to save Milan’s skyscrapers

Brief summary of one an affair that has been going on for over a year now. The bubo exploded with the prosecutor’s spotlight on the seven-story Hidden Garden project Aspromonte Square and on the towers of Crescenzago. And it gradually became a real epidemic, with the opening of nine files. The last one, a few days ago, for the three buildings of up to thirteen floors that convert the former Pompe Peroni factory in a residential area.

The lowest common denominator of the complaints is easily said: the projects start with Scia alonethe certification of commencement of activity, followed by an agreement with the Municipality for a renovation project with “demolition and reconstruction”.

The problem is that at Palazzo Marino, the seat of the Municipality, the initiatives of the prosecutor’s offices have also blocked other projects not directly addressed by the magistrates. Lthe body gave a squeeze to City Planning at the end of February, with a precautionary resolution and restrictive guidelines for its offices. In recent days the Milan Prosecutor’s Office asked the Municipality for the list of buildings and real estate projects, starting from 2020, with certain characteristics: the height exceeding 25 meters and therefore the need for an implementation plan for the construction, the facade bound by the Fine Arts, and the realization within courtyards.

Facing paralysis, yes the undersecretary Alessandro Morelli had promised a tiered table and the government’s commitment to unraveling the mess.

Commitment that was confirmed yesterday evening by MIT sources, which is thinking of a “save Milan” law. “With common sense, in collaboration with Italian municipalities, the MIT offices are working to resolve building and urban planning problems connected to interventions already absent from some local authorities on the basis of an interpretation of state and regional legislation, which in the sector has been the subject of subsequent modifications and stratifications” explained by the Ministry. According to the MIT, without intervention from above “there would remain a risk of uncertainty for both territorial administrations and citizens”. “An example – they explain from the ministry – is the Lombardy capital: under the auspices of the deputy prime minister and minister Matteo Salvini, the MIT will present a Save-Milan law to avoid problems for some skyscrapers”.
